HOW TO MAKE - a wildflower habitat in layers

Making a wildflower meadow, or even a wildflower 'area' is not as expensive as you might think, using our super-plugs. It really does depend on your plot size. This should help:

MINI - My plot is literally a 'patch' no bigger than a double-bed

SMALL - My plot is no bigger than a single garage foot-print

MIDI - My plot is no bigger than a tennis court

LARGE - My plot is no bigger than half a soccer pitch (1 acre)

X-LARGE - My plot is bigger than this

MINI (you need 30-60 plants in total for a great show over 10 months of the year)

Estimated cost over 8 months (our plants only) = £40-£70 + small delivery charges

Estimated cost over 8 months (we do the planting) = £80-£140 free delivery

1. Feb/Mar - prepare plot (we can do this). Plant 20 native mixed bulbs 'in the green' from our online market stall. Flowers Jan-Jun

2. Apr - plant our annual wildflower box (30 plants). Flowers May-Oct

3. Apr - plant a backbone selection of robust perennial wildflowers (5 plants). Flowers Apr-Oct

4. Oct - cut back your wildflowers/meadow to 5cm (2.5in). Remove cuttings. Water if dry weather.

5. Oct - plant remaining selection of favourite perennial wildflowers (5 plants). Flowers Apr-Oct 2023

Your meadow will flourish again in 2023 and beyond.

SMALL (you need 120 plants in total for a great show over 10 months of the year)

Estimated cost over 8 months (our plants only) = £170 + small delivery charges

Estimated cost over 8 months (we do the planting) = £300 free delivery

4. Oct - cut back your wildflowers/meadow to 5cm (2.5in). Remove cuttings. Water if dry weather.

5. Oct - plant remaining selection of favourite perennial wildflowers (50 plants).

6. Apr - plant 1 of our annual wildflower boxes (30 plants) and top up perennials (50 plants in new varieties better suited to established meadows), following spring top-cut

LARGE (you need 500+ plants in total for a great show over 10 months of the year)
